Growth,
Chattering squirrels,
Acorn-stuffed burrows:
Plenty.
Miles high, branches
Fighting others for light, for space
Growing green lines
Encroaching
Old oak taking a long time to say it’s old
And things have changed.
Bemused children
Disbelieve
A feast of flora and fauna
Cacophony of cackles
Orange and yellow
Crinkling
Laughter deepens
Families scatter
Slow winter
creeping
White
Gentle sun
Trickling meltoff
Tiny leaves stolen by long-starved deer
Want
Wet earth
Tiny sparks of life begin
At first few, but gaining numbers
Sprouting
Buds
Begin to blossom
Popcorn popping to sudden
Life
The cycle
Every year a little different
Every year the same;
Invincible.
